Research shows that consumers are willing to pay a premium for smart homes

According to reports, Samsung has released the results of a customized research survey that showcases consumers' attitudes towards home intelligence technology. Although a survey was conducted on consumers in the UK, the research findings also provide some reference for smart home industry personnel on how to best meet the purchasing needs of modern consumers.
This research conducted a survey of 1000 adults who want to move (buy or rent) in the next five years, and combined with the analysis of Google Search search trends from March 2022 to March 2023, it shows six key insights:
Consumers need smart technology and are willing to pay a premium for smart homes -6.5% higher than the average house price in the UK
Prioritize energy efficiency -71% of consumers indicate that energy efficiency is a key factor when considering smart homes
Ideally, new development projects should be optimized using intelligent technology to attract modern buyers - one-third of people are attracted to new projects because they believe they will be pre equipped with intelligent technology
Nearly 40% of Generation Z buyers hope their next property is smart home
Compared with lifestyle, home and security, smart energy devices take the lead in online search categories - half of UK's smart technology searches contain the word "smart energy"
Device compatibility is crucial -81% of respondents stated that technology compatibility with current devices and seamless collaboration are 'very important'
35% of respondents stated that if a house is equipped with smart home technology, they are "more likely" to purchase, while slightly more than one-third of respondents stated that they will move into a house without smart technology but will undergo renovation later. The importance of this technology has become apparent. One in ten people said they would only move into houses with intelligent technology.
Nearly nine out of ten (88%) of those planning to purchase or rent within the next five years will consider building new properties, with nearly half doing so because these properties may be energy-efficient. Between March and April 2023, the search volume for 'energy-efficient new homes in the UK' doubled.
Movers are enthusiastic about moving into a house that meets their technical needs -86% of people say they consider smart homes when looking for their next property. Obviously, people's interest already exists, and they are prepared to spend an additional 6.5% on fully equipped smart homes, which will increase the average house price by over £ 18000 from £ 285000.
